Basketball Recap: Frewsburg Skates Past Cassadaga Valley with Ease

Frewsburg had to skate by with only a three-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 45-point drubbing they dealt Cassadaga Valley on Tuesday. The Frewsburg Bears breezed past the Cassadaga Valley Cougars to the tune of 70-25. The Bears have beaten the Cougars the last eight times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Cougars has come to flipping the script.

Blake Weaver continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 9 of 17 on his way to 23 points in addition to six boards and three steals. His evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least 18 points. Another player making a difference was Kael Collver, who posted ten points along with five rebounds and five blocks.

Frewsburg's victory bumped their record up to 8-9. As for Cassadaga Valley, they are on an 18-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.

Coming up, Frewsburg will be playing at home against Brocton at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Frewsburg is facing Brocton at the right time seeing as Brocton is stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Cassadaga Valley, they will head out to square off against Forestville Central at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Forestville Central knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matchups -- so hopefully Cassadaga Valley likes a good challenge.
