Hazard dropped down to 12-12 on Saturday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Paintsville Tigers, falling 8-2. The Bulldogs were not able to make up for their loss to the Tigers from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.
Hazard saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tucker Napier, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double and one RBI.
As for Paintsville, their record now sits at 11-8. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won seven games by six runs or more so far this season.
On Paintsville's side, Kruz Howell and Lukas Stewart made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Howell didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Stewart pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. What's more, Howell posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2025. At the plate, Howell went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI, while Stewart got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Paintsville is undefeated when Stewart posts two or more runs, but 6-8 otherwise.
In other batting news, Anderson Lauffer was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Hazard will square off against Breathitt County at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Paintsville, they will take on Boyd County at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
