Baseball Game Preview: Poly Engineers vs. Glen Burnie Gophers

The Poly Engineers will challenge the Glen Burnie Gophers on Monday.

Things were looking good for Poly after they put the first run on the board on Wednesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Bowie by a score of 9-7.

Meanwhile, Glen Burnie made easy work of Meade on Saturday and carried off a 13-1 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Gophers.

Manny Katabana made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Glen Burnie is 6-2 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 3-11-2 otherwise. Katabana was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2025.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Logan Collins, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Ward, who earned one run and two stolen bases.

Glen Burnie always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Meade only posted an OBP of .250.

Poly has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-4 record this season. As for Glen Burnie, their victory bumped their record up to 9-13-2.

Everything went Poly's way against Glen Burnie when the teams last played back in April of 2025, as Poly made off with a 12-2 win. Do the Engineers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Gophers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
