Baseball Recap: Butler Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Butler had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. Everything went their way against the Fern Creek Tigers as they made off with a 17-7 win. The Bears might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Dawson Luther tossed a big game, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kody Coomer, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with five runs, six RBI, and three doubles. Those five hits gave him a new career-high. Logan Leffler was another key player, going 3-for-5 with five RBI, one run, and one double.

Butler kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 21 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Butler's record is now 16-9-1. As for Fern Creek, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That lines up perfectly with their 6-19-1 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Butler will square off against Kentucky Country Day at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Fern Creek, they will take on Eastern at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
