Softball Recap: Gunderson Has No Trouble Against Mt. Pleasant

Gunderson's game on Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. Everything went their way against the Mt. Pleasant Cardinals as they made off with a 17-7 win. The Grizzlies might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matchups by ten runs or more this season.

Dezirae Regalado was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Regalado was even better at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with five stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those five stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Julie Ordaz was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Jaelyn Vejar was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.

Gunderson kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mt. Pleasant only managed four hits.

Gunderson pushed their record up to 14-5 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Mt. Pleasant, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season.

As of now, neither Gunderson nor Mt. Pleasant have any future games scheduled.
