Volleyball Game Preview: West Muskingum Tornadoes vs. Union Local Jets

The West Muskingum Tornadoes will face off against the Union Local Jets at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. West Muskingum will be strutting in after a win while Union Local will be coming in after a loss.

Having struggled with three defeats in a row, West Muskingum turned things around against Buckeye Local on Monday. They put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 3-0 victory.

While West Muskingum might've won, it sure wasn't easy: Buckeye Local scored at least 20 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 27-25, 25-20, 25-22.

Meanwhile, Union Local didn't have quite enough to beat Beaver Local on Saturday and fell 3-2.

West Muskingum will have to keep a close watch on Brooklyn Burley and Laken Vinskovich, a pair of players who had a big impact on Union Local's prior game. Burley had eight digs and four aces, while Vinskovich had 17 digs, 16 kills, five blocks, and three aces. Vinskovich has been hot for a while, having posted five or more kills the last 14 times she's played.

West Muskingum's win bumped their record up to 8-15. As for Union Local, their loss dropped their record down to 16-6.

West Muskingum suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Union Local in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. Can the Tornadoes avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
