Basketball Recap: Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy Takes a Loss

Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy entered their matchup against St. Joseph Academy on Saturday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy Royals took a 48-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of the St. Joseph Academy Jaguars. The Royals were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Jaguars apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

St. Joseph Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Morgan Wearsch out in front who went 5-for-11 to rack up 13 points and three steals. Another player making a difference was Melanie Alvarenga, who posted nine points along with five assists and five rebounds.

Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy suffered their first home loss, dropping their record down to 15-6. As for St. Joseph Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 13-9.

Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 48-30 defeat against Walsh Jesuit on the 12th. St. Joseph Academy will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Brunswick at 7:00 p.m. on February 19th.
