St. Johns is a perfect 4-0 against Pima since April of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The St. Johns Redskins will hit the road for the first time this season to take on the Pima Roughriders at 3:45 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
St. Johns is headed out to face Pima after opening their season at home and giving their fans just what they were looking for. St. Johns never let Window Rock get on the board and left with a 4-0 victory on Friday.
St. Johns saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaden Waite, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases Waite has posted since back in March of 2024.
Pima never got on the board in their matchup on Saturday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Bourgade Catholic on Saturday. They blew past the Golden Eagles 14-3. Considering the Roughriders' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
Tanner Smith made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Smith was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Pima got a massive performance out of Colter Kempton, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Aiden Alder, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Pima kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bourgade Catholic only managed five hits.
St. Johns beat Pima 16-12 when the teams last played back in April of 2021. The rematch might be a little tougher for St. Johns since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
