Basketball Recap: Cahokia Comes Up Short at Home Against Mascoutah + How To Watch

Cahokia unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They were beaten by the Mascoutah Indians 77-27 on Monday. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it 15 in a row.

Despite the loss, Cahokia had strong showings from Dakota Bell, who posted four points, and A'Liezsha DeLoach, who scored no points.

Mascoutah's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Harper Whitworth led the charge by dropping a double-double with 21 points and 14 rebounds. Those 14 boards gave Whitworth a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Hedley, who almost dropped a triple-double with ten points, 12 rebounds, and nine assists.

Cahokia has already played their next contest, a 47-14 defeat against Collinsville on the 18th. As for Mascoutah, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 51-33 victory against East St. Louis on the 20th.
