Basketball Preview: Douglas County Huskies vs. Lewis-Palmer Rangers
The Douglas County Huskies will take on the Lewis-Palmer Rangers in a holiday battle at at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Douglas County will come in still looking for their first win of the season.
Last Saturday, Douglas County came up short against Cherry Creek and fell 47-37.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Gavin Dale, who posted 11 points. Another player making a difference was Vaughn Baldwin, who put up 11 points in addition to five boards and three steals.
Meanwhile, Lewis-Palmer had to endure a five-game losing streak dating back to last season, but that streak is no more. They simply couldn't be stopped on Saturday as they easily beat Frederick 69-30. The Rangers' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Douglas County better keep an eye on Jonas Miller. He was instrumental in Lewis-Palmer's win, almost dropping a double-double on 22 points and nine rebounds. The dominant performance gave Miller a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Lowe, who had six points and nine rebounds.
Lewis-Palmer was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Douglas County's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Lewis-Palmer, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.
