Volleyball Game Preview: River Ridge Timberwolves vs. Belmont Braves

River Ridge and Belmont are an even 5-5 against one another since October of 2021, but not for long. The Timberwolves will head out to square off against the Braves at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

River Ridge is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Shullsburg just ended the team's three-match winning streak on Monday. They fell just short of the Miners by a score of 3-2. While the Timberwolves didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Miners 25-21 in the first set.

River Ridge wouldn't go down easily and took Shullsburg into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking seven-point loss. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 21-25, 25-12, 20-25, 25-9, 15-8.

Meanwhile, Belmont didn't have quite enough to beat Belleville on Saturday and fell 2-1. The Braves have struggled against the Wildcats recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Belmont's defeat dropped their record down to 5-11. As for River Ridge, their loss dropped their record down to 10-7.

River Ridge was able to grind out a solid victory over Belmont when the teams last played back in August, winning 2-0. Will the Timberwolves repeat their success, or do the Braves have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
