Basketball Game Preview: Melbourne Bearkatz vs. Rural Special Rebels

The Melbourne Bearkatz will face off against the Rural Special Rebels at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Melbourne is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took a 91-82 hit to the loss column at the hands of Osceola on Saturday. The Bearkatz have been going strong on the season, but this is now their second defeat in a row.

Meanwhile, Rural Special had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.7 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 68-47 margin over the Tigers.

Melbourne's loss dropped their record down to 9-5. As for Rural Special, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season.

Melbourne strolled past Rural Special in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 by a score of 62-44. Does Melbourne have another victory up their sleeve, or will Rural Special turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
