Softball Recap: Archie Williams' Win on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Archie Williams proved they can win big last Monday (they won by seven) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Marin Catholic Wildcats 3-1. The victory was nothing new for the Peregrine Falcons as they're now sitting on three straight.

Paige Murphy spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Archie Williams saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Parker Conrad, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. That stolen base was Conrad's first of the season.

Archie Williams pushed their record up to 7-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Marin Catholic, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Archie Williams will take on Monte Vista at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Archie Williams' pitching crew has only allowed 1.5 runs per game this season, so Monte Vista's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Marin Catholic, they will challenge Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Marin Catholic 4, Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory 3.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.
