Softball Recap: Ross Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Ross came into Wednesday's matchup having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They were the clear victors by a 13-5 margin over the Southview Cougars on Wednesday. The Little Giants not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 9th (when they won 21-0).

Brooklyn Berndt made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up five earned runs off six hits. Berndt was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in hits (three).

In other batting news, Payton Boreman was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with four RBI. Reese Boukissen was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three RBI and two runs.

Ross always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .630. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Ross picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 3-11. As for Southview, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-11.

Looking ahead, Ross will be playing at home against Huron at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Southview, they are taking a road trip to take on Napoleon at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Wildcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.3 runs per game on average), something the Cougars will no doubt try to take advantage of.
