Basketball Recap: Yorktown Has No Trouble Against Frankton

Yorktown was handed a heart-breaking three-point defeat in their last match, but they sure didn't let that happen against Frankton on Wednesday. The Yorktown Tigers blew past the Frankton Eagles 60-40. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 80th, while the Eagles are ranked 241st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Yorktown found their leader in sophomore Alexis Fields, who went 7 for 10 on her way to 18 points and six rebounds. What's more, Fields also racked up two blocks, the most she's had since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Lilly Sylvester, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine boards.

Despite the loss, Frankton still got an impressive performance from Sophia Hoagland, who posted ten points and four steals. With that strong performance, Hoagland is now averaging an impressive 2 steals per game. Emma Key was another key player, putting up eight points and three steals.

Yorktown has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.9 points per game. As for Frankton, their loss dropped their record down to 9-11.

Yorktown has already played their next contest, a 46-25 victory against New Castle on the 24th. As for Frankton, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 51-17 win against Blackford on the 24th.
