Football Recap: Lamesa Falls to Littlefield in First Game of Season

Lamesa unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of the Littlefield Wildcats by a score of 49-47 on Friday. The Tornadoes lost against the Wildcats in their previous head to head back in August of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 55-27 score last time.

Lamesa lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Deev Lugo, who rushed for 182 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 11.4 yards per carry, and also picked up 60 receiving yards. He was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 62 yards. Daniel Ramos was another key player, throwing for 330 yards and five touchdowns.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lamesa will challenge Muleshoe at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Littlefield, they will take on Denver City at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
