Softball Game Preview: Booneville Blue Devils vs. Ripley Tigers

The Booneville Blue Devils are taking a road trip to face off against the Ripley Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Booneville's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They were the clear victor by a 7-0 margin over Wheeler. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Blue Devils.

Meanwhile, Ripley hadn't done well against Mantachie recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Everything went Ripley's way against Mantachie as Ripley made off with a 10-3 victory.

Brinson Gay spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs allowed (all of which were unearned) on three hits. What's more, she gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest she's had since back in March of 2024.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Chatrea Wallace, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 4-for-4. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Allyson Christmas, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.

Ripley's win bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Booneville, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Booneville came out on top in a nail-biter against Ripley when the teams last played back in March of 2024, sneaking past 1-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Booneville since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
