Volleyball Preview: Crofton Warriors vs. O'Neill Eagles
After starting their season with four straight games on the road, Crofton is finally coming home. They will look to take advantage of their home-court as they take on the O'Neill Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. O'Neill took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Crofton, who comes in off a win.
Last Tuesday, Crofton got the win against Cedar Catholic by a conclusive 3-0.
After all that action, the final score was 25-19, 25-19, 25-16.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Crofton to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sammie Allen, who had eight digs, seven kills, and 15 assists. Allen is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had four or more in the last 16 games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Cassie Allen, who had 14 digs.
Meanwhile, O'Neill wound up with the same score they had in their last game (2-0), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time.
While O'Neill was not able to win a set, they sure kept things interesting: every set was decided by three points or less. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-23.
Crofton pushed their record up to 4-0 with that victory, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for O'Neill, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.
Crofton was able to grind out a solid win over O'Neill in their previous meeting back in September of 2023, winning 2-0. Will Crofton repeat their success, or does O'Neill have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
