Baseball Recap: Skyview Hawks vs. Twin Falls Bruins
After a string of 17 wins, Skyview's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They took a 15-10 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Twin Falls Bruins. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Skyview of the 7-5 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2023.
Caden Yesford led a balanced group of hitters, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4. Henry Downey was another key contributor, going 1-for-3 with a home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Even though they lost, Skyview was hitting in the alleys and finished the game with four doubles. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Twin Falls didn't hit any.
On Twin Falls' side, Jaxson Kasel looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits.
On the hitting side, Cooper Thompson was incredible, firing off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 4-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Slade Fisher, who went 2-for-2 with a home run and five RBI.
Skyview's loss ended an 18-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 19-2. As for Twin Falls, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Skyview will face off against Emmett at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
