Basketball Recap: Mountain View Piles Up the Points Against Greeley West

There's no place like home for Mountain View, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They breezed by the Greeley West Spartans to the tune of 95-44 on Friday. The Mountain Lions' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Mountain View's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Cole Tonniges led the charge by going 9 for 13 on his way to 21 points. Those 21 points gave Tonniges a new career-high. Blake Strom was another key player, going 7 for 12 on his way to 17 points and five steals.

Mountain View smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in six consecutive games dating back to last season.

Mountain View's win ended a three-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-4. As for Greeley West, they dropped their record down to 0-4 with the defeat, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Mountain View didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 74-67 victory against Timnath on the 17th. As for Greeley West, they will look to take advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they take on Adams City at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
