Rolling Meadows hasn't had much luck against Conant recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Mustangs will head out to challenge the Cougars at 4:45 p.m. Rolling Meadows is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.1 runs per game this season.
On Wednesday, Rolling Meadows came up short against Buffalo Grove and fell 6-2. That's two games in a row now that the Mustangs have lost by exactly four runs.
Will Fiore was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one home run. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 11 runs the game before, Conant was a bit more limited in their matchup on Wednesday. They fell just short of Palatine by a score of 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Cougars have suffered since May 24, 2025.
Conant saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Colton Thomas, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run. Andrew Lipka was another, earning one RBI, one run, and two stolen bases.
Rolling Meadows' loss dropped their record down to 18-10. As for Conant, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-12-1.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. Rolling Meadows hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.4 home runs per game. However, it's not like Conant struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Everything went Rolling Meadows' way against Conant in their previous meeting back in May of 2025, as Rolling Meadows made off with a 15-0 victory. Will the Mustangs repeat their success, or do the Cougars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
