Basketball Recap: Drew Dragons vs. Leland Chargers
Drew was the 64-40 winner over Leland when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Drew Dragons took a 54-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Leland Chargers on Saturday. The Dragons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the defeat, Drew saw an underclassman step up: freshman Rafa Ledesma went 7 of 10 on his way to 20 points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Ezra Kolsky, who posted eight points and six rebounds.
Drew's loss dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Leland, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Drew will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Woodside at 6:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025. Drew is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.8 points per game this season. As for Leland, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Hill at 2:30 p.m. on December 30th. Leland is facing Hill at the right time seeing as Hill is stuck on a ten-game losing streak.
