Softball Recap: Wheatmore Comes Up Short

Wheatmore had lost three straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 7-7 to make it four. They lost 9-1 to the East Davidson Golden Eagles. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Golden Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-3 back in March.

Wheatmore saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emma Carter, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

As for East Davidson, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-4 record this season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by eight runs or more this season.

On East Davidson's side, Kyleigh Hedrick spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits.

At the plate, Kenzi Cribb was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was SOPHIE HAMPTON, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Coming up, Wheatmore will head out to take on West Davidson at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for East Davidson, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Forsyth Home Educators at 6:00 p.m. The Golden Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Hawks have averaged an impressive 7.5 runs per game this season.
