Basketball Game Preview: Menendez Falcons vs. Raines Vikings

The Menendez Falcons and the Raines Vikings will compete for holiday cheer at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Menendez is headed into the matchup having just posted their biggest victory since December 5, 2023 on Wednesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Matanzas 57-19. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Falcons.

Sophia Scibelli continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, putting up 20 points along with six rebounds and six steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Princess Watkins, who posted eight points and four steals.

Menendez was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Raines had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Wolverines as they made off with a 60-36 win. Given the Vikings' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 257th, while the Wolverines are ranked 569th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Menendez has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-4 record this season. As for Raines, their victory bumped their record up to 7-4.

Menendez was able to grind out a solid win over Raines in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, winning 55-42. Will Menendez repeat their success, or does Raines have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
