Softball Game Preview: Port Aransas Marlins vs. Yorktown Wildcats

The Port Aransas Marlins will head out on the road to face off against the Yorktown Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Port Aransas has given up an average of 9.6 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Port Aransas managed to slip by Kenedy the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. Port Aransas came up short against Kenedy on Friday, falling 18-3. The Marlins' loss continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 16 runs the game before, Yorktown was a bit more limited in their matchup on Friday. They lost 17-1 to Woodsboro. The Wildcats have struggled against the Eagles recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meetings.

Yorktown saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sydnie Krueger, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Yorktown now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Port Aransas, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-8.

Port Aransas took their win against Yorktown in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 14-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for Port Aransas since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
