Recap: Broughton Capitals vs. Sanderson Spartans

There's no place like home for the Broughton Capitals, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Tuesday. Everything went their way against Sanderson on Friday as Broughton made off with a 55-30 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Broughton has posted since December 4, 2023.

It was another big night for Kalajah Wright, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds and seven steals. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. Kyra Gustus was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with three steals.

Sanderson lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Summer Haith, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Amyah Lynn, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds.

Broughton has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-9 record this season. As for Sanderson, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-13.

Broughton will head out on the road to take on Cardinal Gibbons at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Cardinal Gibbons focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Friday. As for Sanderson, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Enloe at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Enloe comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 25 points in their last five games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
