Baseball Game Preview: Roy Royals vs. Woods Cross Wildcats

The Roy Royals will venture away from home to challenge the Woods Cross Wildcats at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. Roy is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.

Roy lost 14-2 to Woods Cross on Friday. The matchup marked the Royals' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

For Woods Cross' part, Beckham Stanger made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. That's the most strikeouts Stanger has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and four RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kason Lythgoe, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024. Beau Blackwell was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Woods Cross lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Woods Cross is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Roy, their loss dropped their record down to 7-6.
