Foothill takes loss despite strong efforts from Cade Memeo and Tyler Zanhiser

Recap: Foothill Cougars vs. West Valley Eagles

The Foothill Cougars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They fell 65-53 to West Valley. Foothill was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as West Valley apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

Despite the defeat, Foothill had strong showings from Tyler Zanhiser, who scored 19 points along with nine rebounds and five steals, and Cade Memeo, who scored 12 points along with six steals. Another player making a difference was Caleb Belair, who scored eight points along with two steals.

West Valley was led to victory by Chase Kalnins and Jordan Heacock. Kalnins scored 25 points along with two steals, while Heacock scored 19 points along with six steals and five rebounds. Kalnins is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. Blaze Collins was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with six rebounds.

Foothill has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-8 record this season. As for West Valley, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-9.

Foothill will head out on the road to face off against Chico at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Chico has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. As for West Valley, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against University Prep at 7:30 p.m. University Prep has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 386 points over their last six matches.
