Baseball Recap: Winnfield Drops Season-High Score on Mansfield

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Winnfield). They never let the Mansfield Wolverines get on the board and left with a 16-0 win on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Wolverines: they've now won three in a row.

Daniel Luke Page was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Page was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

In other batting news, Caplan Young was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Daniel Martin, who scored three runs and stole Three bases. while going 2-for-2.

Winnfield kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive contests.

Winnfield pushed their record up to 4-5 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Mansfield, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Winnfield beat Mansfield by a score of 20-0 later that day.
