Basketball Recap: Bluffton's Victory on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Bluffton had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They walked away with an 81-71 win over the Maumee Valley Country Day Hawks. For the Pirates, this counts as revenge for the 68-51 victory the Hawks walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2020.

Despite the loss, Maumee Valley Country Day saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Keeran Stokes went 11-for-16 on his way to 29 points. Stokes has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last six times he's played. Nasir Wilson was another key player, going 6-for-7 en route to 13 points and five assists.

Bluffton's win bumped their record up to 15-7. As for Maumee Valley Country Day, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bluffton will take on Wayne Trace in a tournament on Friday. As for Maumee Valley Country Day, they will challenge Lake at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Maumee Valley Country Day's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six matches.
