Aurora West College Prep Academy gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Hinkley Thunder, sneaking past 3-2. For the Spartans, this counts as revenge for the 3-0 win the Thunder walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2024.

Aurora West College Prep Academy was staring down a 2-1 deficit headed into the fourth set, but they rallied to take the next two for the win. The match finished with set scores of 25-14, 22-25, 23-25, 25-15, 17-15.

Jesse Dominguez Parra paced Aurora West College Prep Academy's offense, picking up 12 kills. Dominguez Parra got some help from Erick Uriarte and his 28 assists. Finally, Alexis Rivas kept Aurora West College Prep Academy's defense grounded, leading the team with six blocks.

Aurora West College Prep Academy will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Addenbrooke Classical Academy at 5:30 p.m. on March 26th. As for Hinkley, they will look to take advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they take on Manual at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
