Football Recap: Coxsackie-Athens Takes a Loss

If Coxsackie-Athens was riding high fresh off their 26-0 takedown of Broadalbin-Perth last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Riverhawks came up short against the Johnstown Sir Bills on Friday, falling 33-8. The loss continues a trend for the Riverhawks in their meetings with the Sir Bills: they've now lost four in a row.

Craig Farrell threw for 58 yards and one TD. Kyle Scott was his top target, picking up 51 receiving yards. On the ground, Dontrez Smith rushed for 43 yards.

Johnstown got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jonny Swartwout out in front who rushed for 108 yards and one score on only 13 carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Cole Downing, who threw for 136 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only ten passes.

Coxsackie-Athens' defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Johnstown, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-3.
