League recap: Estes Park scores huge upset over Clear Creek

The biggest upset of the week belonged to Estes Park, who took down 184th ranked Clear Creek, 28-20. Frankie KellerTwigg threw for 89 yards and one touchdown and ran for 112 yards in the win.

Logan Watson and Justin Boldt provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Nederland. The longest such play in 1A Metro this season, the connection resulted in 70 yards.

Denver Christian's dynamic duo of Tate Kastens and Forrest Sanderson proved tough for Front Range Christian to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Kastens threw for 98 yards and two touchdowns and Sanderson had 101 yards receiving. Josh Carter helped Denver Christian's passing attack out by catching one ball for two yards.

Demetrius Lujan made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Crusaders bested the Falcons. The 5-foot-9 sophomore pulled down one interception and grabbed 1.5 sacks.

Hunter Grivna-Bode was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 230 yards on 31 carries as Platte Canyon topped Front Range Christian. Jake Robl also contributed to the rushing game with 110 yards on the ground.

Troy Vanden Broeke's team's Kastens and Sanderson have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Kastens has thrown for 768 yards this season, while Sanderson, a 6-foot-2 receiver, has 22 catches for 341 yards. The Huskies' Grivna-Bode leads the league in rushing yards with 1084.

A big matchup in 1A Metro this week will be when Platte Canyon takes on Lyons. The Huskies are currently in first, while the Lions are in third.

There should be lots of points scored when Platte Canyon and Lyons face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Huskies comes in having scored 278 this season, while Brandon Wilkes' team has scored 163. Platte Canyon scored 46 points last week as it defeated Jefferson.

The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when the Huskies take on the Lions. Platte Canyon has allowed 62 points this season, while Lyons has given up 64. The Huskies allowed 28 points last week as they bested the Saints.

Platte Canyon extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Jefferson, 46-28. This was the team's sixth consecutive win.
