It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Centennial had no problem doing just that on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Mesa Jackrabbits, sneaking past 41-39.

Owen Reynoso produced another solid effort rushing for 222 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 10.6 yards per carry, and also picking up 42 receiving yards. Those 222 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Another back making a difference was Damonte Drake, who rushed for 60 yards and one score on only five carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Centennial was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 298 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Centennial's defensive line stepped up as well, laying out Derek Carr four times. Mesa's QB won't forget Luke Franklin anytime soon given he sacked him twice. Franklin is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made six or more in each of the last five games he's played.

Mesa lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Carr, who threw for 348 yards and three TDs while picking up 10.9 yards per attempt. Rio Arnett also helped with two touchdowns in total.

Centennial pushed their record up to 8-4 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.8 points over those games. As for Mesa, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-5.

Centennial has already played their next matchup, a 28-13 victory against ALA - Queen Creek on the 28th. Mesa does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
