Volleyball Recap: Ashleigh Cruce and Carissa Bacon Secure Win for Platte County

Platte County won the last time they faced Ruskin and Gia DeRose did her part to make sure it happened again. The Pirates put the hurt on the Golden Eagles with a sharp 3-0 win on Thursday with plenty of help from DeRose, who had 12 digs and four aces. She has been hot recently, having posted 12 or more digs the last three times she's played.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Platte County was: they took every set by at least 18 points. The final score came out to 25-7, 25-3, 25-6.

Leading Platte County to victory were Carissa Bacon and Ashleigh Cruce. Bacon had 11 assists and three aces, while Cruce had five assists and two aces. That's the most aces Cruce has posted over her last nine matchups.

The victory snapped Platte County's losing streak at three matches and leaves them with a 12-8-2 record. As for Ruskin, they are on a 16-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-12.
