Basketball Game Preview: Eau Gallie Commodores vs. Heritage Panthers

Eau Gallie and Heritage are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2017, but not for long. The Eau Gallie Commodores will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Heritage Panthers at 7:00 p.m. Eau Gallie is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.

Eau Gallie saw some tournament action on Saturday. They came up short against Legacy Charter, falling 61-41. While losing is never fun, the Commodores can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 563rd, while the Eagles are ranked 218th).

Heritage fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. It was close, but they ultimately received the gift of a 54-52 win from a begrudging Panthers squad.

Eau Gallie's defeat dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Heritage, their victory bumped their record up to 2-9.

Eau Gallie was dealt a bruising 70-36 loss at the hands of Heritage in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Heritage's David Simpkins, who went 8 for 16 on his way to 22 points.
