Baseball Recap: Ralston Valley Mustangs vs. Galena Grizzlies
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Bishop Manogue, Ralston Valley was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They skirted past the Galena Grizzlies 3-2.
Winston Patterson tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April of 2024.
On the hitting side, Ralston Valley's victory was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Cole Pfeifer, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one double. Cooper Stern also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
The win got Ralston Valley back to even at 2-2. As for Galena, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-4.
Coming up, Ralston Valley will hit the road for the first time this season to take on Paradise Honors at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Paradise Honors will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something Ralston Valley surely won't give up without a fight. As for Galena, they will take on Dakota Ridge in a tournament on Friday. Galena is facing Dakota Ridge at the right time seeing as Dakota Ridge is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
