Football Recap: Grandview Starts Season with Defeat on the Road

Grandview kicked off their season on the road on Saturday and hit a couple of potholes. They took a 28-14 bruising from the Toppenish Wildcats. While losing is never fun, the Greyhounds can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington football rankings (they are ranked 228th, while the Wildcats are ranked 113th).

When it comes to explaining why Grandview lost, don't look at Nathan Montes De Oca. Despite the final result, he rushed for 177 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 8.9 yards per carry.

Jason Sanchez was the offensive standout of the match as he rushed for 60 yards and one score, and also threw for 96 yards and a pair of touchdowns. That's the most rushing yards he has posted since back in September of 2024.

Grandview didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 55-6 defeat against East Valley on the 12th. As for Toppenish, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 13-3 loss against Prosser on the 12th.
