Basketball Game Preview: Union City Chargers vs. Stockbridge Panthers

The Union City Chargers will challenge the Stockbridge Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Union City lost 61-37 to Homer on Friday. The Chargers haven't had much luck with the Trojans recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.

Union City's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Nala Payne, who posted 11 points and three steals, and Madison Krummery, who had eight points and six rebounds. Those six rebounds gave Krummery a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ellie Williams, who put up eight points and nine rebounds.

Even though they lost, Union City smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in six consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Stockbridge had to suffer through a 64-31 loss at the hands of Leslie. The game marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Union City now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Stockbridge, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3.

Union City was taken down by Stockbridge 64-16 when the teams last played back in January of 2024. Thankfully for Union City, Alaina Kellenberger (who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 19 boards) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
