Football Recap: Hempfield Area Takes a Loss

Hempfield Area was the 34-28 winner over Norwin when they last played one another back in October of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Spartans took a 33-26 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Knights on Friday.

It was another big night for Giovanni Rothrauff, who rushed for 188 yards and two TDs while picking up 9.0 yards per carry for Norwin. Rothrauff is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 112 every time he's taken the field this season.

Hempfield Area has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-3 record this season. As for Norwin, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-2.

Coming up, Hempfield Area will look to defend their home field on Friday against Seneca Valley at 7:00 p.m. The Spartans will be up against the Raiders' rather soft defense (which has allowed 36.43 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Norwin, they will take on Central Catholic at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Vikings' defense has only allowed 11.9 points per game this season, so the Knights' offense will have their work cut out for them.
