Basketball Game Preview: New Madrid County Central Eagles vs. Holcomb Hornets

The New Madrid County Central Eagles will face off against the Holcomb Hornets at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. New Madrid County Central has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Having struggled with eight losses in a row, New Madrid County Central turned things around against Saxony Lutheran on Thursday. They managed a 49-43 win over the Crusaders.

Meanwhile, Holcomb didn't have quite enough to beat Kennett on Tuesday and fell 52-50. While losing is never fun, the Hornets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 374th, while the Indians are ranked 184th).

Holcomb's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-8. As for New Madrid County Central, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-10.

New Madrid County Central came up short against Holcomb in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, falling 52-40. Can New Madrid County Central avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
