Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Leesville). They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat the LaGrange Gators 56-24. Given the Wampus Cats' advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana football rankings (they are ranked 113th, while the Gators are ranked 262nd) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Leesville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Trel Broom, who threw for 192 yards and three TDs on only 13 passes. The dominant performance also gave Broom a new career-high in passer rating (151.4). Michael Davis Jr was in the mix too, providing Leesville with two touchdowns.
De'Kelyn Jefferson and Patrick Bertrand certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Jefferson threw for 175 yards and one TD on only 14 passes, while Bertrand rushed for 127 yards and one score.
The victory was the fourth in a row for Leesville, bringing their record up to 5-5. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 44.5 points over those games. As for LaGrange, their loss was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-9.
