Softball Game Preview: Southern Wells Raiders vs. Wabash Apaches

Southern Wells hasn't had much luck against Wabash recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Raiders will take on the Apaches at 11:00 a.m. Southern Wells has given up an average of 11 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Southern Wells is headed into Saturday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their eighth straight game dating back to last season on Thursday. They came up short against Eastbrook, falling 15-1. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Southern Wells saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaylea Coffel, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles and one run.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Wabash, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They skirted past Marion 5-4. The victory continues a trend for the Apaches in their matchups with the Giants: they've now won three in a row.

Wabash's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Southern Wells, their loss dropped their record down to 0-7.

Southern Wells couldn't quite finish off Wabash when the teams last played back in April of 2023 and fell 9-7. Can the Raiders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
