Football Recap: Alma Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Alma, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They blew past the Pleasanton Bulldogs 52-30 on Friday. This was payback for the Cardinals, who suffered a 61-22 loss the last time these two teams met.

Zavier Mitchell was a one-man wrecking crew as he rushed for 135 yards and two scores on only nine carries, and also threw for 172 yards and a pair of TDs. Another player making a difference was Miles Ford, who rushed for 74 yards and three touchdowns on only eight carries.

When it comes to explaining why Pleasanton lost, don't look at Brennan Lindner. Despite the final result, he rushed for 156 yards and a pair of scores on only 15 carries, and also threw for 138 yards and one TD. Lindner didn't just play on offense: he also made nine total tackles and defended two passes.

The win got Alma back to even at 1-1. As for Pleasanton, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Looking ahead, Alma is taking a road trip to challenge Sandy Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Pleasanton, they will be playing at home against Twin Loup at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
