Football Game Preview: Sumner Stingrays vs. Alonso Ravens + Official Tickets

The Sumner Stingrays will square off against the Alonso Ravens at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Friday, Sumner strolled past Strawberry Crest with points to spare, taking the game 30-14. Given the Stingrays' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 54th, while the Chargers are ranked 207th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Sumner didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Tyler Lynch, Jameris Conyers, Christian Mollinio, and Jayden Porter picked up one apiece. Porter got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Alonso, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They won a matchup that couldn't have been any closer, slipping by Plant City 23-22.

Alonso pushed their record up to 6-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 13.8 points on average over those games. As for Sumner, their win bumped their record up to 7-2.

Sumner beat Alonso 27-20 in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. Will the Stingrays repeat their success, or do the Ravens have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
