Basketball Recap: San Clemente Continues Home Dominance on Wednesday

San Clemente won the last time they faced Tesoro and things went their way on Wednesday too. The San Clemente Tritons strolled past the Tesoro Titans with points to spare, taking the game 62-43. The Tritons pushed the score to 48-28 by the end of the third, a deficit the Titans cut but never quite recovered from.

San Clemente had a senior duo take command as Christian Fernandez went 10 of 18 on his way to 22 points and six assists and Chase Tolliver dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. Fernandez is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 16 or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Porter Hansen, who posted six points along with six boards and four blocks.

San Clemente smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in seven consecutive matches.

San Clemente's victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 16-4. As for Tesoro, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 14-7.

San Clemente and Tesoro should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. San Clemente (ranked 65th) will meet Dana Hills (ranked 766th) at 7:00 p.m. on January 15th. San Clemente is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 70.6 points per game this season. Meanwhile, Tesoro (ranked 125th) will meet Trabuco Hills (ranked 364th) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
