Abingdon waltzed into their contest on Thursday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They put the hurt on the John Battle Trojans with a sharp 3-0 win. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent victory being a 3-1 win back in September.

Abingdon walked away with the victory (and looked especially good in the first set). The final score came out to 25-13, 25-20, 25-21.

Abingdon's record is now 24-2. As for John Battle, their loss dropped their record down to 15-6.

Abingdon and John Battle should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings. The Falcons (ranked 15th) will meet Carroll County (ranked 138th) at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, John Battle will square off against Virginia High at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank advantage (57 vs. 348).
