Baseball Recap: Coeur d'Alene Comes Up Short

Coeur d'Alene blew Post Falls out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Thursday Post Falls got their revenge. The Vikings fell just short of the Trojans by a score of 7-5. Vikings fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Trojans since Thursday.

Coeur d'Alene got a good showing from Tyler Kernkamp, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Kernkamp has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Bam Fenter made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double. Gavin Helms was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

Coeur d'Alene's loss dropped their record down to 4-3-1. As for Post Falls, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-8-1.

Coming up, Coeur d'Alene will face off against Lewiston at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Post Falls, they will be playing at home against Lake City at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
