Basketball Game Preview: Capital Jaguars vs. Manzano Monarchs

Capital is on a four-game streak of home losses, Manzano a four-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck will change on Wednesday. The Capital Jaguars will host the Manzano Monarchs at 7:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Capital is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against La Cueva on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Capital was dealt an 80-50 defeat at the hands of La Cueva. The Jaguars were down 60-34 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Meanwhile, Manzano was beaten by Atrisco Heritage Academy 81-44 on Saturday. While losing is never fun, the Monarchs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Mexico basketball rankings (they are ranked 72nd, while the Jaguars are ranked 15th).

Manzano's loss dropped their record down to 6-18. As for Capital, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-16.

Capital beat Manzano 60-50 in their previous meeting back in January. Will Capital repeat their success, or does Manzano have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
