Football Game Preview: Macon Tigers vs. South Shelby Cardinals

The Macon Tigers will venture away from home to square off against the South Shelby Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. South Shelby took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Macon, who comes in off a win.

Macon is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Highland 62-6 on Friday. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Tigers just coasted through the last quarter.

Meanwhile, South Shelby fell victim to Centralia and their airtight defense on Friday. They were dealt a 42-0 loss at the hands of the Panthers. While losing is never fun, the Cardinals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri football rankings (they are ranked 261st, while the Panthers are ranked 99th).

The win made it two in a row for Macon and bumps their season record up to 4-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 6 points in those games. As for South Shelby, they dropped their record down to 1-6 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Macon took a serious blow against South Shelby when the teams last played back in November of 2024, falling 48-19. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Tigers were down 42-7.
